My work focus on the semantics and pragmatics of expressive terms (loaded expressions such as ‘fuck’, ‘damn’ or ‘bastard’), and the way their properties can be studied by applying scorekeeping models of discourse. This brings together my interests in taboo language and formal semantics.

I am also interested in the philosophy of fiction. It is considered that fictional discourses involve either sui generis speech-acts (e.g. ‘fictive illocutions’) or pretended speech-acts. However, both approaches fail to accommodate the wide array of types of fictional discourses that can be found (or that could be imagined).
