Isidora Stojanovic is Research Director at the CNRS and, from 2024 to 2029, Distinguished Researcher at the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona), where she is leading the project "Valence Asymmetries : the positive, the negative, the good and the bad in language, mind and morality" (ERC Advanced Grant n°101142133). She works at the interface of philosophy of language, value-theory, semantics and pragmatics. Her topics of interest include context-sensitivity, first-personal phenomena, and foundational semantic issues. Her current research explores the variety of linguistic mechanisms that underscore evaluative discourse, and aims to show that valence plays a fundamental role in language and cognition. One of the project’s objectives is to show that valence asymmetries are seldom irrational but derive from a deeper structural asymmetry between positive and negative value, and, as such, are a key component of our cognitive and linguistic architecture.
