Jérôme Pelletier is maître de conférences in philosophy at University of Brest.
Jérôme Pelletier has a distinguished scientific record in the philosophy of language as well as in aesthetics and, more generally, in cognitive philosophy. In 1995, he wrote a PhD dissertation in philosophy entitled “Fiction and Reference” and in 2006, he obtained the Habilitation to supervise doctoral candidates. Since 2007, his approach has been falling under experimental philosophy, a philosophical approach that defines protocols for a scientific validation of philosophical hypotheses. In 2007 he conducted an experiment in psychology on the perception of bodily emotions. Since December 2010 he coordinates a 3-year project funded by the French National Research Agency AVE (ANR-10-CREA-005). Since February 2012, he coordinates a 3-year project funded by the French National Research Agency FICTION (ANR-11-EMCO-008). Both projects are multidisciplinary projects which follow the aforementioned philosophical approach, focus on the study of emotions and belong to the domain of empirical and cognitive aesthetics.
