The 2008-2009 seminar will pursue a line of research initiated in 2004 on the concept of metacognition, understood as the dual capacity to predict one's dispositions in a given mental task (such as remembering a proper name), and to retrospectively evaluate the correction of the mental action just performed. This year's seminar will concentrate on the present advances in experimental analysis of metacognition in psychology and the neurosciences, while also refining the philosophical analysis of the concept in relation to mental action and to noetic feelings. Finally, the seminar will deal with the development of perceptual and memorial metacognition in children, and with their impairments in various mental pathologies. |
